4. (5 points) Using one sentence or less in each case, describe a function for each of the following during double-strand break repair:

  1. MRN (or MRX)
  2. γ-H2AX
  1. MRN may contribute to end processing and/or to holding together the two broken DNA ends.
  2. γ-H2AX recruits other proteins that contribute to repair, including cohesins (which hold a chromatid next to its homologous (sister) chromatid) and the INO80 chromatin remodeling complex.
